Yuvraj Singh And Deepika Exchange the First Piece of Cake

Deepika seemed to be the most important guests at Yuvraj's Birthday bash as first piece of cake went to Deepika who immediately fed Yuvraj the other half.

Not just this, both rocked the dance floor together all night long. While the men in blue were there to be a part of the celebration, but the skipper was missing.

Sanath Jayasuriya Retires from Test Cricket

Sri Lanka's master blaster Sanath Jayasuriya took retirement from Test Cricket after first Test in Kandy against England. Jayasuriya scored 10 and 78 in his last test match which helped Sri Lanka in defeating England by 88 runs.

The 39-year-old charismatic left-hander from Matara finished his 110-Test career as Sri Lanka’s leading run-scorer with 6,973, a tally that includes 14 centuries and a top score of 340, made against India in Colombo in August 1997. At the time, that triple century helped him to fourth place in the ICC player rankings for Test batsmen and it turned out to be the highest batting ranking of his Test career. Surprisingly, despite being a scourge for his opponents, that was the only year in which Jayasuriya found a place in the 10 top batsmen.

Jayasuriya, who also took 1-37 in the Kandy Test, retired in 39th spot in the rakings for Test bowlers. The highest bowling ranking he enjoyed during his Test career was 22nd, achieved after the Galle Test against Zimbabwe in January 2002. In the Test all-rounders list, Jayasuriya was a regular in the top five between 2001 and 2005, reaching third for a period.

Jayasuriya’s career-rankings at a glance:
  • Current batting ranking: 46th
  • Highest batting ranking: 4th (August 1997 v India)
  • Highest rating: 770 points
  • Current bowling ranking: 39th
  • Highest bowling ranking: 22nd (January 2002 v Zimbabwe)
  • Highest rating: 395 points.

Rahul Dravid Dropped - Sehwag In - Sachin and Sourav are Safe

Mysterious selections continues in the Indian Team Squad. While former skipper Rahul Dravid is being dropped, Virender Sehwag has made a comeback to the team without scoring much.

CNN-IBN
Rahul Dravid was given a 'break' for the first two One-Day Internationals against Pakistan because he is a "one-dimensional player and does not add value to the ODI team". These were the words of chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar when the selection committee met in Ahmedabad on Saturday to name the squad.
But one decision that selectors have taken right I think is they have decided not to implement a rotation policy and retained seniors like Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.

Ganguly Was Dropped !! Was it Right ??

Things are quite vague on whether Ganguly didn't play 2nd ODI because of hamstring injury or was he really dropped.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said after the 2nd match “Sourav has a hamstring injury. He was eager to play, but we were not willing to risk a batsman getting injured during the game. Therefore we decided to rest him for this game as well,” Dhoni .

But the BCCI Secretary, Niranjan Shah has clearly stated that Sourav Ganguly was dropped from the third ODI.

However, I would consider this decision as unfair. Because in his last ODI series, against England, Ganguly averaged 35.57, making three half-centuries and being involved with Sachin Tendulkar in three century partnerships.

India Australia Set For the 7 One Day Match Series

India and Australia both are set for the the first match to be played, of the 7 one-day match series, tomorrow i.e 29th Sep, at Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore.

A good series is expected between India, the new 20-20 champions, and Australia, four times World Cup winners.

However, Australian captain Ricky Pointing says that that the pressure will be on the home team because of the Twenty20 triumph.

For Dhoni there are no problems as such and he wouldn't have expected a better debut than this as a captain in the one-dayers. The blend of senior and junior players will do the trick for him but how the new Indian captain marshals his resources will be crucial.

Indian Hockey Players Protest at Step-Motherly Treatment : To Go on Hunger Strike

Indian Hockey Team is upset at the step-motherly treatment meted out to them by the central and state governments compared to the rewards lavished on the cricket team. While the Cricket team is basking in its glory the hockey team feels orphaned and so some members of the Indian hockey team have decided to go on a hunger strike.

Chief Coach of the national team Joaquim Carvalho was peeved at ignorance of the state government that while title victory of his wards in the Asia Cup was ignored, State Govt. and some others announced cash awards for the cricketers for winning the Twenty20 World Cup.

Warm Welcome For The Indian Players at Mumbai Mumbai Airport

It looked as if whole city arrived at the Mumbai airport to welcome Indian cricket team returning home from South Africa with the Twenty20 World Championships trophy.

TV news channels followed the open-top double-decker bus carrying the cricketers as it slowly wound its way along the 30-km route from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport to the Wankhede Stadium.

Draped in the national flag, indian players waved and showed off the glittering trophy to hundreds of thousands of supporters.

More than 50 motorcycle outriders led the slow-moving cavalcade that took well over four hours to reach the stadium for the public felicitation programme organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Several members of the 1983 World Cup winning squad were on hand to praise their triumphant successors.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had to pose with the glittering Twenty20 trophy again and again, while the team was loaded with cheques, shawls, garlands, bouquets, plaques and almost any other memento one could think of. There were no complaints of excess baggage.
